Letter: You cannot spell PEAC with out P.C.

I am shocked and disappointed that Creighton is the latest university to succumb to pressure from groups that hold it hostage to political correctness (“Dating program protested” 2/16). Indeed, the idea (or the excuse) given by the Gay-Straight Alliance and Women’s Empowerment Base for protesting the event is absurd and ridiculous. I suppose if dating leads to objectification of women, the whole foundation of the family itself, then marriage and reproduction are also relics of a misguided, misogynist past.

Of course, the real reason these students are upset is because they were excluded. Yet they refuse to recognize that Creighton is private and Catholic, and the administration has a responsibility to approve and promote policy that is in accordance with Catholic social teaching. It is truly sad that, because of the actions of a few, a truly popular and worthwhile campus activity will no longer be allowed.
