Volleyball looks to build on historic hot start

The Creighton volleyball team opens its Missouri Valley Conference schedule this weekend, hosting Evansville and Southern Illinois at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

The Jays, who won the Blue Raider Bash last weekend, beating Middle Tennesse, Miami of Ohio and St. Louis University, head into conference play after a school record-tying 8-1 start. This weekend’s action begins Friday at 7 p.m. against Evansville and continues Saturday, when the Jays take on Southern Illinois.

Cross country squads hit road for Lincoln meet

The men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to their second meet of the young season, the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational Saturday in Lincoln.

This meet comes on the heels of the CU/UNO Invitational Sept. 2. There, the men’s and women’s teams placed second and third overall, respectively.
