Movies in the palm of your hand
Nothing compares to seeing a movie in the theater. The massive screen, sound system, the people in back who are too loud, the previews and popcorn are all part of the charm.
“King Kong,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Lord of the Rings” were the best in theaters. Watching those films on iPods won’t be the same. The ambiance of the theater will be lost. Movies are social events that are meant to be shared. It’s nice to watch them together and talk about them afterwards. Watching a movie on DVD isn’t as good, but at least it’s still social.
It’s impossible to watch a movie on an iPod with friends. The tiny screen and headphones are isolating. No matter how closely together people huddle, only one person can see and hear the movie. Viewing movies on an iPod shuts people off from the rest of the world.
Watching movies on the tiny dimensions of an iPod screen? How can people think this is a good idea? “King Kong” was meant to be larger than life. How are Orcs scary when they’re less than an inch tall? Besides, Captain Jack Sparrow looks so much better on a big screen. |
