Being
gay is more comparable with being left-handed
than with being an alcoholic, said the Rev.
James Alison, a gay, Catholic theologian, priest
and
author. Being gay is something that “just
is.”
Alison’s Tuesday night speech
to an audience of 450 in the Rigge Science Building, “Collapsing
the Closet in the House of God: Opening the Door
on Gay-Straight Issues,” was met with both
agreement and dissent. Many Creighton students
said they learned from and sympathized with Alison.

- Schlegel's
role larger than life
As university president, the Rev.
John P. Schlegel, S.J., has acted as
the voice of Creighton. As a Jesuit
priest and liturgical celebrant, he
has acted as a voice for the Roman
Catholic Church. And soon he can add
a new voice to his resume: the voice
of Paul Bunyan.

of one of Creighton’s more intense
club sports, lacrosse.
The
lacrosse team went on a tear last spring,
at one point
earning a top 10
ranking in the United States Lacrosse
Intercollegiate Association poll.
