Semester in Dominican returns

The Semester in the Dominican Republic has finally returned and has even been improved.

The semester-long program in the Dominican Republic had been running for years, but in fall 2003, the program was cut and examined for potential improvements. Some of these improvements would allow students from the College of Business Administration and the Nursing School to attend the program.

Many students who had previously gone on the Semestre Dominicano were upset when the program was cancelled. However, now more students can have the opportunity to participate. The classes have been revamped to offer more choices. Students are required to take a class about the Dominican Republic and its culture, and a Spanish course, which allows Business students to study abroad in the Dominican Republic without taking unnecessary classes.
The changes that have been implemented make the program hard to turn down. Just imagine having beautiful beaches nearby, the opportunity for service, meeting, learning and living among people of another culture, with just a little homework thrown in the mix.
