It won’t be getting any warmer
In
his Oct. 26 “Message from the President,” the
Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., warned his colleagues
that the pending winter season “will be challenging
from a budgetary perspective” and encouraged
them to consider wearing extra layers to work.
Needless
to say, students should also take the necessary
precautions to ensure that they are not left out
in the cold.
Classroom
temperatures will be set to 66 degrees, two degrees
lower than the normal setting of 68 degrees. Students
are encouraged to bring an extra sweater or sweatshirt
to their classes. Wearing gloves and scarves might
be a good idea, especially in the older buildings
that are typically colder.
Students
are also urged not to use personal space heaters,
as their insufficient use of energy will only contribute
to the current energy problems. The overall conservation
of energy can hopefully reduce heating costs as
the winter months progress, so your patience and
compliance with the requests of Facilities Management
may make things easier for students, faculty and
staff in the long run.
