Your Take

Students still left to struggle

A few weeks ago, I was disappointed to see a disabled Creighton student forced to struggle up the steps inside Brandeis Hall. While I was pleased to see several people stop to offer assistance to this student, I was still angry to realize that the facility is not yet handicap-accessible.

I have personally watched my own younger cousin, born with cerebral palsy, struggle with always needing assistance to walk. I’m sure he has faced the problem of handicap-inaccessible facilities several times throughout his life, but he has persevered despite it.

Nevertheless, I would hate for Creighton to continue to present this obstacle to anyone.

No one deserves to be unable to go somewhere just because they cannot walk up a flight of stairs or have to struggle to do so. This is an unfair difficulty that should be corrected.
