Creighton JMC Faculty and Staff
Creighton Journalism faculty and staff members embrace the department’s 150 majors like an extended family. With no graduate program, the department focuses on teaching and advising undergraduates.
Faculty members all have years of hands-on experience in the fields they teach. They’ve been distinguished reporters, editors and photographers. They’ve run PR and advertising campaigns, and won awards for their videos and graphic designs. They also are scholars who write books and articles and win awards for their photography and graphics.
They are highly accessible to students outside of class and around the department, so much so that most couldn’t tell you when their official office hours are. You’ll often see them in the Creightonian newsroom helping students through the complexities of graphic design or writing assignments. They’ve won awards for outstanding teaching and advising. “We won’t hire anyone who couldn’t make more money in their professional fields than they do teaching,” said Dr. Eileen Wirth, chair. “By the same token, we won’t hire any faculty who lack top academic credentials. And we won’t hire anyone whose first priority isn’t working with students. Person for person, I’ll match our faculty against any group in the country.”
